Mansfield, who was given the name Vera Jayne Palmer on April 19, 1933, became one of Hollywood’s most famous blonde bombshells in the 1950s and 1960s. She was regarded as Marilyn Monroe’s opposite, or the “Working Man’s Monroe.”

She appeared in several films, including The Girl Can’t Help It, Promises! Promises!, and The Sheriff of a Fractured Jaw, in addition to being a Playboy Playmate.

When she was killed in an automobile accident in 1967, her life was brutally cut short. Mansfield was 34 years old.

Three-year-old Hargitay was in the backseat of the automobile with two of her siblings at the time. The children were unharmed, but Mansfield, her friend and attorney Sam Brody, as well as their driver Ronnie Harrison, died right away.

“I believe I was exposed to crises at a young age, and I also learnt that nothing is certain and that s— occurs. Nevertheless, we press on. Then we alter it,” she said in 2021, according to Glamour. “Having experienced trauma early in life has been a gift for me in a way,” the speaker said.

“I clearly was in that frozen place for a lot of my childhood — of trying to survive, actually trying to survive,” she continued. “Unveiling the layers and learning to trust again has been the process of my life,” the speaker said.

Jayne, happy birthday in heaven!
