Elvis Presley was famous for more than simply his incredible musical career and unique voice, which captivated audiences all over the world.
He also excelled in cooking and fashion (blue suede shoes, anyone?)
But some people might not be aware that the rock icon was also an expert in design. Think of the King of Rock’s renowned private plane as an illustration of this idea.
In 1962, Elvis Presley purchased his own aircraft and had it customized.
The carpet, wooden panels, and red velvet chairs alone give away how posh the space is.
The Lockheed Jetstar model airplane Elvis had for almost three decades was left unused after his passing in 1977. After then, it was placed as a tourist attraction on a road near Roswell, New Mexico, USA.
However, the jet was recently purchased by a telephone bidder who identified himself as an Elvis fan for $260,000 at an auction in Florida.
When the jet first broke through the clouds, both Elvis and his father, Vernon Presley, were on the aircraft.
See what’s within… Let me simply say this: I wouldn’t mind a long flight on this jet. It appears to be exactly as I imagined the King of Rock’s aesthetic to be.
Wood paneling covers the walls, and luxurious crimson velvet covers the seats.
Naturally, a “high tech” television setup is present. The airliner really just has one large room.
There is plenty of room for visitors, and the seating appears to be of great quality. Behind the main room is a little kitchen.
Take a look at the microwave, for instance. I seriously doubt that it still works given how old it is. Imagine Elvis standing up, going to the kitchen, and making the fabled Elvis sandwich—a combination of peanut butter, mayonnaise, crispy bacon, and banana—before heating it in the microwave. Battle the Past!
Look in the bathroom! Naturally, there ought to be more velvet and a much more opulent sink. This is a breeze in comparison to the claustrophobic conditions on charter aircraft.
It’s not really that bad, is it? Thank heavens I caught a glimpse of Elvis’ perfect beachwear.
The winning price at the auction for the plane is currently $260,000. The auction took place on January 8 at the Florida location of Mecum Kissimmee Collector Vehicle Auction.
Over the phone, the new owner received anonymous bids.
