Deborah, an ABC News news anchor, discussed her job as her husband’s caretaker during a conversation with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of the Brooke Shields-directed documentary Pretty Baby.

“I think a lot of people don’t realize that – and I never realized that,” the woman added, “that being a caregiver is really taxing, exhausting, frightening, all of those things.”

“But it’s tough,” she continued, describing how even though Al is in much better health, it has been challenging to overcome the dark time. “I’m still kind of, I believe, healing. I’m still a little worn out. I continue to feel mentally worn out.

The woman continued, “But you know what, I’m grateful and just trying to just bask in the moment and just be happy that he’s well, and we’re all well.”

When Al returned to Today on January 6, the ABC celebrity was there to welcome him.

Deborah claims that despite the fact that Al is “back to driving me crazy,” she has a network of friends and family who are there for her, and she credits her religious views and sense of spirituality with giving her the strength to cope with her husband’s health issue.

“My family and coworkers helped me get through it. Colleagues, many of whom are present now, encouraged me when I thought I wouldn’t be able to succeed. People were there, texting, emailing, and making calls, and that was the difference-maker.

We wish the family speedy recovery and send them our genuine prayers in the hope that they will never experience another situation like this.
