The world is so beautiful that I never get tired of being amazed by it. Since I live outside of the city, I can take a short walk in the morning that often takes me by a hill, a stream, a field, and some woods.
In simple terms, being outside in nature is a great way to remember how amazing life can be. Even though you should enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells, you should still be aware of possible risks.
People who read this have probably been walking for a long time and know that there is a list of things to keep in mind when hiking. For example, always having water on hand or making sure you have bear spray with you (if necessary).
Since I like to go for long walks all year, I thought I knew everything there is to know before I left the house.
That is, until I saw a picture going around that warned of a risk that most of us might not think about. I don’t have to think about it where I live, but I thought it would be best to share the new information in case anyone else needs it.
Now, because the internet is so big and easy to get to, it’s not surprising that pictures and movies go viral every day.
People were really interested in a picture from Missouri Wildlife that was shared a few months ago, in part because it looked so mysterious.
In the post, the department asked people on the internet to carefully look for something hidden under the leaves on the forest floor. I’ll be honest and say that I couldn’t find anything strange in the picture above. Try it yourself and see how well you do.
Is It Over? Did you find anything that stood out?
It turned out that a lot of people couldn’t find anything wrong with Missouri Wildlife’s picture, so they later posted something to explain what was going on.
Let it be said that you will never be able to see what was hidden in their first picture again!
A Copperhead snake was hiding in the post among the rocks and leaves. Copperheads are very good at hiding. They fit in so well that an untrained eye has a very hard time finding them.
When the snakes feel attacked, they can bite people, which can hurt their muscles, blood flow, and breathing for a short time. Luckily, their attacks don’t usually end in death, but they’re to blame for more than 2,900 of the 7,000–8,000 snake attacks that happen every year in the US.
So, the next time you’re out in the wild, be very careful on any leafy trails you come across (as long as you’re not in an area where Copperheads live)!
I had never thought about this before, and I had no idea that the picture above had a snake in it! Did you?
