58-year-old Paul Skinner went riding with a few of his pals. As they rode down a more remote section of the road, they saw something odd moving in a ditch by the side of the road. They made the decision to approach and see what was going on. As they got closer, they noticed a scared dog that appeared to be abandoned, attempting to shield a bag with its jaws.
But when they opened the bag, the men were taken aback. There were four dead puppies in the package. It seemed as though the puppies were born on the same day. The men called the police right away, terrified by what they had witnessed. Representatives from an animal shelter joined them, took the puppy, and gave her the name Carly. Authorities came to the conclusion after considerable research that Carly and her puppies had been dumped in the ditch shortly after she gave birth.
Even after their owner abandoned them, Carly never left her children, but it appears she was unable to remove them from the tightly sealed plastic bag. We can only hope that Carly’s owner will be apprehended and held accountable for this heinous deed. He acted in a very brutal manner. He not only left the mother and the puppies alone, but he also put them in a knotted plastic bag to try to deny them any chance of surviving. He gave them a death sentence. Sadly, there are more and more instances of animal abuse and abandonment.
Stricter laws and harsher punishments are required for people who commit these kinds of offenses. We can only wish that Carly finds a caring home and gets the attention she requires. Despite the heat and the lack of food and water, she is a courageous dog that choose to stay with her puppies till the very end.
