In April of 2022, Naomi Judd took her own life. She was 76 years old when she passed away. Ashley Judd, 57, claims that she received a text message from her mother saying, “Please help,” the morning before she passed away.
She remembered her mother being “uncomfortable in her body” and pacing the kitchen when she eventually arrived at her mother’s house, expressing that she “didn’t want to be here anymore.”
Ashley shared how her mother confided in her about why she had persevered and “continued to live” in spite of her mental health issues.
She mentioned me among other things, and I responded, ‘Mom, you don’t need to worry about me. I’m all right. I’m all right. In the special, Ashley stated, “And she really clocked that in a really deep way.”
She recounted the agonizing day, stating that once her mother went upstairs, Ashley followed her while yelling for her.
She went to her mother’s bedroom when she didn’t hear her answer.
Ashley remembered, “I noticed that she had hurt herself.”
She disclosed that she spent the next thirty minutes holding and conversing with her mother.
“I told her, ‘It’s okay, it’s okay,’ right away. I’ve witnessed the extent of your sorrow. Ashley described the events of that fatal day: “And we just breathed together, and I talked to her and told her how much I loved her, and it’s okay to go.”
“I sincerely hoped that she would be liberated and free of her shame and remorse when she passed away. Her hand was in mine. I was giving her a kiss. She was quite tender. She remarked, “She smelled so pretty.”
The singer’s suicide was verified by an autopsy report in August 2022.
According to the story, Naomi had shot herself in the home in Tennessee and died as a result.
