A couple turns an old bus into their ideal little house in “A Life on a Bus.”
“The interior of the 1977 bus in which they reside is AMAZING!” 😲🚌
When they were able to obtain a 1977 California Crown bus, everything started. They were drawn to its rounded edges and vintage appearance, which made it seem like the ideal foundation for their ideal mobile home.
It was a great challenge. The vehicle presented certain special limitations because of its curved design. It took 18 months to finish the entire project, which was done with passion.
Erika laughs and remarks, “That’s three to four times longer than we expected.” “You have no idea how difficult it is to transform a bus into a home.”
Fortunately, they weren’t by themselves. Throughout the process, the internet “skoolie” community provided invaluable assistance with its vast array of information and YouTube videos.
Their 11-meter-long bus is now a cozy, vibrant home where Erika’s skill as an interior designer is evident. Her meticulous attention to detail resulted in a light-filled, useful, and enchanting environment.
To maintain the vintage vibe that they loved, they preserved the bus’s original front. Despite its small size, the kitchen is a miniature work of art in terms of functionality: a clever fold-out shelf, a U-shaped countertop made of salvaged wood—everything is designed to blend style with utility.
Two windows in the comfortable living area are framed by built-in bookcases. Ottomans serve as additional seating, and a comfortable couch conceals a storage area.
Lastly, a clean, contemporary bathroom is tucked away between the living room and the bedroom. It displays the careful attention to every detail with its waterproof PVC vanity, floor-to-ceiling tiled shower, and even a covertly fitted outlet.
