When the doors of the elevator unexpectedly opened and a massive bear entered, a husband and wife were riding it home. They stared at the bear in dread until it did something very unexpected
It was a typical evening. Every floor of the ancient building’s elevator creaked, as it always did. The young couple was on their way back from the store; the wife looked in her purse for the keys as the husband handled the bags.
As she pressed the “34” button anxiously, she muttered, “We’re going to get stuck again, just like last time.”
“Don’t jinx it,” he said, smiling wearily.
Between levels, the elevator abruptly stopped moving after starting. The light wavered. The doors were opened. And there was a large, actual bear on the entryway.
The male moved to shield the woman when she shouted, out of reflex. When the bear got up on its hind legs and started growling, the pair stood motionless in terror, and the woman was so frightened that she nearly passed out. However, suddenly a totally unexpected event occurred, leaving them both stunned
The bear appeared to be unaware of its location as it stood there panting. A strap with a ripped length of rope hung around its neck.
“Remain motionless,” the man muttered. It most likely escaped from a wildlife sanctuary or a circus.
The bear snorted, stepped forward, and then silently dropped its head to the ground.
“Oh my God,” she said in a whisper.
After a brief pause, the man hit the “close doors” button, but the elevator didn’t react. As if sensing their apprehension, the bear simply breathed deeply and slowly, as if pleading with them not to be scared.
After a minute, the corridor was filled with the sound of footsteps and the voice of a security guard:
— Everything is all right! The bear from the movie set is that one! We have been looking all around the building for him since he escaped during filming!
It was hard for the pair to believe. However, a man wearing a reflective vest soon emerged in the hallway and yelled:
— Baloo! Come on in! Well done! — Like a well-trained dog, the bear raised its head, growled softly, and left the elevator with composure.
The doors shut. Until the elevator began to move once more, the guy and woman remained motionless.
Still looking pale, he answered, “Well.” I can now see why this place has such high rent.
“Why?” she inquired.
— Because the circus performance is free here
