😱 The prison tyrant makes fun of the new prisoner since he doesn’t know who he is or what he can do. 😱
Nobody gave Marcus any attention when he showed up at the prison on that chilly Monday morning. He gave off the impression of someone who wouldn’t last long in this cruel environment because he was small, quiet, and nearly unnoticeable. The other prisoners disregarded him when the guards referred to him as “Ghost.” All save the so-called king of the block, Big Ray. When Ray, a despot who operated on terror, noticed Marcus eating by himself with his head down, he made him his new target.
Ray aggressively knocked Marcus’s tray over and poured a cup of cold water on his head one day in the cafeteria. There was laughter. Standing there with water streaming down his cheeks, Marcus remained composed and silent. Without responding, he turned slowly and moved away.
His quiet gave the impression that he was weak. However, Marcus was not who he appeared to be. He had spent fifteen years honing his inner power, discipline, and knowledge of Shaolin kung fu. Although he wasn’t there to fight, he understood how to put an end to it if it came to that.
Days went by. Ray became increasingly hostile and escalated his provocations. He believed he was unbeatable. Ray went too far in the gym one afternoon. Marcus was told to bow down to him and submit to his wishes.
Calm and determined, Marcus raised his head. Ray then launched an unspoken attack. All of the witnesses were shocked by what transpired next. 😱😱😱
Despite his reputation as a cautious and quiet prisoner, Marcus was anything but. Nobody saw him when he got to the prison. He was viewed as an easy target by the other prisoners, particularly Big Ray, the despot of Block D. Marcus had already been designated as Ray’s next victim. Ray was a violent and cruel man who governed by humiliation and violence.
Ray was unaware, though, that Marcus had studied martial arts for fifteen years. He didn’t just happen to be there.
Marcus originally suffered Ray’s humiliations—such as knocked-over trays, taunts, and intimidation—in silence. However, he did not respond. Until the day Ray went too far.
Ray attempted to have Marcus polish his shoes at the gym. Everyone was shocked by Marcus’s lightning-fast and accurate response to his onslaught. Ray was on the ground, moaning, within seconds.
The ensuing quiet was laden with reverence. “I’m not anyone’s punching bag, but I don’t want any trouble,” Marcus said, maintaining his composure.
Marcus gained the admiration of both the guards and the prisoners that day. His battle was motivated by control rather than anger. He came to represent discipline and quiet power. He preached self-control instead of aggression.
Ironwood changed gradually. However, there are always adversaries to peace. One evening after training, Ray was surrounded by his group, who were envious of his might. However, Marcus was prepared this time.
