The bride was abandoned right at the altar during the wedding, and in her rage she decided to marry the first homeless man she encountered; but that night, when they were alone, the bride learned something awful
I can recommend some even more dramatic variations if you’d like.
In front of the guests, family, and the entire town that had gathered to see the “wedding of the year,” the bride was left at the altar. Without a single explanation, the groom just turned around and left. The bride’s mother was stunned, the guests gasped, and the music ceased. She felt everything inside her crumble into a bottomless emptiness as she stood there in the center of the cathedral.
Suddenly, however, the bride felt nothing but cold wrath instead of fainting or crying. She had suffered embarrassment. Embarrassed. discarded as if it were useless. And when the visitors looked at each other and talked to each other, she raised her head abruptly, inhaled deeply, and said:
— I’m going to marry. At this moment. To the first person who agrees.
She just spoke it out without really addressing anyone. However, she was heard.
An elderly homeless man with a gray beard and ripped, filthy clothes was standing outside the church. He was surprised and perhaps a little saddened by what he was witnessing.
She approached him directly. Nobody was able to stop her.
Do you have a spouse?
— No
— Would you like to wed me?
Even though he was in shock, his eyes were filled with calm, compassionate confusion rather than greed. After ten minutes, they were once more standing at the altar while the surprised priest, his hands shaking, scanned through his prayer book, attempting to determine whether it was even acceptable to perform a ceremony in such a circumstance.
The guests were appalled; some recorded everything, while others yelled that she needed to be stopped. However, she saw her new “husband” as though she were confronting the entire world.
And that evening, when they were by themselves in the tiny guesthouse room, the bride unlocked the door, turned on the light, and was astounded by what she saw…
Abruptly, the bride saw a metal dog tag around his neck. Military. worn out and old. She came closer — and saw something else: under his torn shirt were scars. deep, thick scars that resemble burns and stab wounds.
She stepped back.
“Who are you?” she muttered.
He didn’t say anything for a while. Then he gently lifted his eyes.
Finally he said, “I’m not who you think I am.” Additionally, I’ve changed throughout the years from the man I seem to be.
He reached into his pocket and took out a little leather pouch. It’s old, worn, and well-preserved; obviously, it was once valuable. He set it down on the table.
He remarked, “I was a soldier once, but my family passed away a few years ago.” — The house was destroyed by fire. I made it through… However, I ended myself living on the streets after that.
She found it hard to understand that the man in front of her was not a “homeless man,” but rather someone who had lost everything and yet decided to assist a complete stranger in order to keep her from feeling alone and embarrassed.
She said, “Why did you agree to marry me?”
He paused to reflect. Then he grinned, a small, brittle smile.
Because I was viewed as a human being for the first time in a long time.
The lump that was growing in her throat went unnoticed by her. Their lives will never be the same after that day.
