Glennis Grace, 39, said on the America’s Got Talent (AGT) stage that she still wanted to sing for more people and follow her dreams despite years of performance. Glennis was inspired to pursue her ambition on the massive American stage by her 11-year-old son Anthony. The judges were intrigued by an accomplished artist seeking this stage and wanted to hear the voice that her son believed in. The assignment was clear: Glennis needed to perform in a way that showed she was not only talented but also destined to become a global star.
Glennis chose to play the well-known song “Run to You” by Whitney Houston. The tone and intensity of her voice were strikingly similar to the late icon’s first note. Her powerful and impassioned performance captivated the entire audience. She maintained the soulful depth of the original while demonstrating incredible vocal control in a technically flawless rendition. Glennis’s audition was not only outstanding but also star-making, as seen by the judges’ stunned reactions and the standing ovation.
The evaluators were astounded by the quality of her voice. “I’ll be honest with you, I feel like I’m looking at a star already,” admitted Simon Cowell, the harshest critic. Mel B’s comment, “You sound so much actually like Whitney, it’s unbelievable,” was arguably the best complement. Howie Mandel succinctly expressed her goals when she remarked, “The only reason you’re not a star yet is because we haven’t seen you and we haven’t heard you.” Glennis Grace received four passionate “yeses,” proving that her goal was unquestionably attainable.
