In celebration of their 25 years of marriage, Catherine Zeta-Jones and her husband, Michael Douglas, shared a collection of never-before-seen wedding pictures. The private photos were posted by the 56-year-old actress on her social media accounts.
The couple on their first day together is seen in one of the earliest pictures. She wrote as the caption, “The first time our eyes crossed.”
Zeta-Jones then shared a number of pictures from their extravagant wedding in 2000, which took place at the Plaza Hotel in New York City. She can be seen in the photos with Douglas, their parents, and their three-month-old son Dylan.
The actress shared her thoughts on her wedding day experience in her article. “I moved in your direction twenty-five years ago. I recall you waiting for me with that gaze that only you have, the aroma of the flowers, the candlelight, and the beautiful Welsh choir resonating through the hall. I still love you just as much now as I did back then. I’m grateful, my love,” she wrote.
She added some fresh photos from their travels and red carpet events in addition to the old ones.
Since 1998, Zeta-Jones and Douglas, who is now 81, have been together. Dylan, their first child, was born just before their 2000 wedding, and Carys, their daughter, followed three years later.
There have been challenges in the couple’s relationship. Zeta-Jones received bipolar illness treatment in 2011 and 2013. According to reports, Douglas contemplated divorcing in 2013 because he was unable to handle the emotional pressure caused by the sickness and the melancholy that followed. The couple was able to get back together after a few trying months.
In addition, Douglas’s prior marriage to Diandra Luker produced an older son, Cameron. Cameron, who just welcomed his second child, was given a five-year prison sentence in 2010 for drug-related offenses.
