With deep sadness… We send our prayers to the Springsteen family: Heartbreaking details ahead

Patti Scialfa, a key member of the E Street Band and the gifted wife of legendary musician Bruce Springsteen, courageously shared her personal battle with multiple myeloma, a rare form of cancer, in the new documentary Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band. She was diagnosed with the disease in 2018.

The documentary, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, offered a poignant look at how Scialfa’s illness affected her capacity to travel and perform.

Scialfa is a successful solo musician with several albums to her credit, but she also joined the E Street Band in 1984. She has worked with well-known artists like Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, Narda Michael Walden, David Johansen, and Don Cherry during her storied musical career. She is not just a gifted musician but also a gifted lyricist and documentary and film producer.

A Family and a Love Story

Since their happy marriage in 1991, Scialfa and Springsteen have three children: a daughter named Jessica and two sons, Evan and Samuel. Their love and support for one another are visible in both their personal and professional life, and they have a strong family relationship.

Overcoming Obstacles with Bravery

“It felt so good to be back on stage,” Scialfa said, referring to her few performances and discussing the difficulties she has faced since receiving her diagnosis. Because of the influence on her immune system, her disease has severely limited her ability to tour. When it comes to her performances, she needs to be careful about where she goes and what she chooses. Scialfa maintains her optimism and resolve in the face of these challenges.

“I occasionally attend a show or two where I can perform a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat,” she continued. Even though her health condition requires cautious monitoring, her sporadic appearances allow her to share her amazing skill with her followers.

An Open Look at Their Relationship

Despite being unable to attend the documentary’s debut, Scialfa stated that it offers viewers a rare window into the close relationship she has with Bruce Springsteen. Viewers can see “a side of our relationship that you usually don’t get to see” because to it. The documentary is expected to be a touching and enlightening experience, and it will be accessible for streaming on Hulu and Disney+ beginning on October 25.

“It’s a blast to be back onstage with Bruce,” Scialfa exclaimed. “The band has an opportunity to celebrate every night on this tour.”
