Many animal enthusiasts and avid bird watchers often install camera feeds with their bird feeders so they can see who visits their seed buffet. It’s possible that a man who shared his story on Reddit did so for identical reasons: to observe birds eating at different times of the day and at night.
However, as soon as he noticed something strange, he posted about it on Reddit. He wrote, “My bird feeder app gave me a notification that said ‘Human body detected,'” along with a snapshot he got from his camera’s feed that displayed the time as 8:08am. To the right is what looks to be a disembodied face. He uploaded this to the r/Weird subreddit.
A bird is seated on the perch of the bird feeder in the picture, but if you look to its right, you can see a face that looks like a ghost.
The man discussed his experience with the media. The first time he received a “human detected” notice on his bird feeder’s camera app, he recorded the video “in the south-east of the Netherlands.” He received it several more times following this episode.
“I’m sure the bird set the alert off, and the face just happened to be a creepy coincidence,” he added, adding that he did not see the “floating face” the subsequent times he received the warning.
Redditors were unsure, though, if the disembodied face was real or only an optical illusion brought on by the background flora.
Something like, “Holy s*** that branch/leaf face is terrifying,” was posted in the forum.
“I see it, but I think it’s just the way the branches and leaves look in that particular spot,” said another.
