Mandy Harvey had been singing since she was 4 and was studying music when a connective tissue disorder destroyed her hearing. By 18 she was completely deaf, and she walked away from music, believing that part of her life was over.
On America’s Got Talent, Mandy took off her shoes so she could feel the rhythm through the floor. She sang “Try,” an original song about refusing to give up, using muscle memory and visual tuners to stay on pitch. 🎶
When the song ended, Simon Cowell pressed the Golden Buzzer. He told her she was one of the most amazing people he had ever seen and heard, and admitted he never expected anyone to surprise him like that again.
Ten years after losing her hearing, Mandy was going straight to the live shows. Her dad, who first encouraged her to sing again, called it amazing. ❤️
