Twelve year old Sally and her 76 year old grandad John walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage together. They call themselves 2 Grand, and they come from Doncaster.
The two have been singing together for two years. Sally laughed that when they learn a new song, it takes her grandad quite a long time to remember the words 😄.
John has been a singer for more than 50 years. His biggest dream has always been to perform at the Royal Variety Performance, and now he wants to be there with his granddaughter by his side.
Singing together means a lot to both of them. Sally said she feels more confident because she knows her grandad will always be there to help her. For John, it has helped through a very hard time. He lost his wife a year ago, after 54 years of marriage 💔.
Then they sang A Whole New World from Aladdin, and the audience was charmed straight away by the sweet, natural way they sang to each other.
One judge said the competition is about people just like them, and that you cannot buy the charm they brought to the stage. Another admitted that, to be brutally honest, they did not expect it to be that good, but the pair were a lovely surprise.
Simon joked that it was a little too sweet for him, like putting seven sugars in your coffee. But the other judges loved it.
Piers said absolutely yes, a second yes followed, and with a third, grandad and granddaughter went through to the next round, putting everyone in a better mood ❤️.
