After Just Six Months Together, a Waitress and Her Banjo Partner Turned Counting Stars Into a Country Song on AGT

Madelyn Tallent and her friend Malachi Martin came to America’s Got Talent from Benton, a tiny town in Tennessee. Madelyn works as a waitress at a family restaurant called Big Tom’s, and yes, Tallent really is her last name.

The two had only been performing together for six months. Madelyn joked that there are not many musicians in their town, so when she met Malachi, they had to play together 🎸.

They turned OneRepublic’s Counting Stars into a country song, with Madelyn’s warm voice and Malachi’s banjo leading the way.

The judges praised Madelyn’s voice and the chemistry between them. Simon was more careful, saying the act was so new it did not feel ready yet. Another judge disagreed, saying that when you see potential, you work with it right away. The others said yes, and the duo took the next step ✨.
