Wyn Starks walked onto the America’s Got Talent stage a little nervous, but excited. He told the judges he is from Minneapolis, Minnesota, and now lives in Tennessee.
Music has been part of his life since he was a kid, when his mom played music around the house. But it was the pandemic that pushed him into music full time. He was working in hospitality at a hotel when he lost his job because of Covid.
Wyn said he would sing an original song called Who I Am, about his own journey and becoming the artist he is today.
Then he shared something very personal. Wyn is a twin, and he had recently lost his twin brother, who was one of his biggest supporters. He said being on that stage meant everything, and that he was doing it for him 💔.
The theater went quiet as he started to sing. Wyn sang with power and freedom, putting all of his feelings into every line.
When he finished, one judge told him about losing a brother too, and said it was impossible to imagine losing a twin, because that bond must be impossible to explain. The judges loved that it was his own song and praised the unique tone of his voice.
Simon said Wyn had been so emotional before the song, then took a breath and delivered something extraordinary. He called it the perfect tribute to his brother and said it could be a life changing moment.
Then the judges voted, and the yeses came one after another. Wyn left the stage knowing his brother would have been very proud 🙏.
