Freddie Combs from Greeneville, Tennessee, told The X Factor judges that in 2009 he weighed 920 pounds and almost died. Through exercise and a proper diet, he had lost almost 400 pounds. He was about to turn 41 and works as a minister.
His wife of almost 16 years stood behind him. Freddie said she had cared for him as his weight rose, and called her the closest thing to an angel he knows. He dedicated his song to her, Wind Beneath My Wings ❤️.
His voice was strong and full of feeling, and the audience cheered him on.
One judge said the comments were not out of sympathy, and that his voice was heavenly. Simon told Freddie he did not deserve to be stuck in that chair, and offered him a deal. If Freddie backed himself, Simon would back him. Freddie agreed, and got four yeses 💪.
