Ryan O’Shaughnessy was 19 and from Dublin when he walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage with his guitar. He told the judges he was a songwriter and was studying music in college, because he could never imagine himself working in an office from nine to five.
He chose to play his own song, No Name. When the judges asked what inspired it, he admitted that he wrote it for a friend he had liked for years. He called it a kind of love letter. The judges begged him to tell them her name, or at least the first letter, but he just laughed and said he could not do it 😊.
Then he started to play. His voice was soft and honest, and the words told the story of a boy who tries to say how he feels but cannot find the courage. The whole theater listened in silence.
David Walliams said he could not believe she would not go out with him, and called it one of the most beautiful songs he had ever heard. Another judge said it was sweet and sincere. When Ryan revealed that his friend had never heard the song before, the judges told him that if this did not work, nothing would. He got his yeses and walked off hoping she was watching ❤️.
