Loren Allred walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage and said she was from Brooklyn, New York. She explained that most of her favourite singers come from the UK, so she decided to pay them a visit.
Then she said something that stopped the judges in their tracks. Many people have already heard her voice, she told them, but nobody knows her face.
Loren is the singer behind Never Enough, one of the biggest songs from The Greatest Showman 😱. She was first hired to record reference vocals so the actresses could learn the songs. Rebecca Ferguson, who plays Jenny Lind in the film, suggested that Loren should sing the song herself while she lip synced.
The judges were stunned. Loren said she had always felt more comfortable singing behind the scenes, but now she was ready to put a face to the song. And yes, she was going to sing it that night.
From the first note, the theatre went silent. Her powerful voice filled the room, and the audience hung on every word as the song built to its famous ending 🎶.
Amanda Holden said she was shaking. She told Loren that it felt like a superstar had arrived, and that it was one of the most incredible auditions she had ever seen.
Then Amanda pressed her Golden Buzzer, and gold confetti fell all around Loren, who covered her face in disbelief. After years behind the scenes, her moment had finally come ✨.
