One of the celebrities who dressed up for the Met Gala after-party in 2023 was Olivia Wilde, who went all out in a totally transparent netted dress that she paired with black underwear.
Obsessed! And a far cry from Olivia’s appearance at the Met Gala, where she donned a gown created by Gabriela Hearst for Chloé that was based on a Karl Lagerfeld creation from 1983.
According to Gabriela, the original design’s musical inspiration and surrealistic flair were what drew her to it. “We could bring back something that would be quite timeless to the Met Gala in 2023.” Instead of making it a cocktail dress, we changed it into a gala gown, and I think it turned out brilliantly.
“What I admire about Olivia is her intelligence, and that intelligence is paired with beauty,” remarked Gabriela. That combination can do no wrong. She caught my attention at a pre-Met Gala event when I noticed the enthusiasm in her eyes. I immediately wanted to dress her.
Olivia said to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, “Oh my god, I mean, I just feel so lucky.” I’m at such a wonderful place right now. Things are wonderful because I’m working hard, my kids are doing well, and I get to hang around with admirable people.
