Justin Timberlake Was ‘Freaking Out’ in Custody and Insists ‘He Only Had One Drink’

After spending the evening at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor with pals on June 18, the musician was taken into custody on DWI charges.

The well-known musician Justin Timberlake was put in a highly unexpected scenario last Tuesday. The popular song “Selfish” artist, 43, was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) after hanging out with pals at the American Hotel in Sag Harbor.

After his arrest, a source claimed that Justin was really shaken. He was clearly upset and restless during the night in detention. The source disclosed, “He was freaking out and stayed up all night when he was in custody.” “He’s adamant that it wasn’t a wild night out and that he only had one drink.”

The lawyer for Justin has not yet responded to the event. However, according to Justin’s arrest report, which PEOPLE was able to get, he said to the arresting officer, “I followed my friends home and I had one martini.”

It appears like Justin intends to carry out his tour as planned in spite of this regrettable incident. According to the insider, “for him, it’s business as usual.” “The tour is proceeding as scheduled.”

This incident happened during the Forget Tomorrow World Tour break for Timberlake. June 21 and 22 in Chicago and June 25 and 26 in New York City are his next scheduled appearances. December is when the tour will end.

After leaving the American Hotel, Justin was given penalties for disobeying a stop sign and failing to stay in his lane, in addition to one count of driving while drunk. It was also noted in the arrest report that Justin’s eyes were blurry and bloodshot.

PEOPLE was informed by a second source that Justin was merely “hanging out with friends” that evening. But when he repeatedly refused to submit to a chemical test, things got complicated, and he ended up spending the night at the Sag Harbor Police Headquarters. The next morning, he was freed.

On July 26, Justin’s court appearance is set to take place in conjunction with his tour stop at the Tauron Arena in Kraków, Poland.

“Mr. Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations,” said Edward Burke Jr., his attorney. When the time is right, he will say a great deal. The DA’s office is currently holding him up for full discovery.
