The lovely weather, the people passing by, and the leisurely stroll made that morning by the lake feel like any other. However, a dog-owning woman was unable to look away from the action taking on close by.
A light-skinned youngster was in the arms of the dark-skinned mother, who was attempting to get an older boy to accompany her. Crying and unwilling to leave the park, he resisted obstinately.
This was an ominous signal to the onlooker. Her heart was filled with doubt, then with the conviction that this was a kidnapping. What else could it be than a mom with black skin and children with light skin?
Breathless with panic, she hurried to the policeman and begged his aid without hesitation.
A few minutes later, the police and the mother with the kids were already on their way to the automobile. The witness was ecstatic since she had been the one to spot the threat early. However, calm quickly gave way to shock.
