The day her twin girls, ages ten, disappeared without a trace, her life fell apart.
She had just dispatched them to the local grocery for milk and bread, something they had done dozens of times before, when it happened on a soggy June evening in 2002. However, the females never returned.
All night long, the mother looked for them. Then, for a whole month, the entire city—police, neighbors, volunteers, and search dogs—joined the hunt. However, it appeared as though the twins had been obliterated. No hints. Nothing to wear. Not a single witness. Just pain and quiet.
