It was his last shift after 35 years of delivering mail through every kind of weather in the same neighborhood.
At the first house, a family congratulated him and gave him a generous gift card.
At the second, he got a box of premium cigars.
At the third, a set of great fishing lures.
All day long, neighbors stopped him with kind words, farewell cards, and gifts.
Then he reached the final house. A stunning blonde opened the door in a sheer negligee, took his hand, and led him upstairs for a night he’d never forget.
Afterward, she made him a huge breakfast — eggs, potatoes, ham, sausage, waffles, juice, and coffee.
But under the coffee cup was a single dollar bill.
“Why the dollar?” he asked.
She smiled: “Last night I told my husband it was your last day and we should do something special. I asked what we should give you.”
“He said, ‘Screw him — give him a dollar.’”
Then she blushed and added: “The breakfast was my idea.”
