Bailey McConnell walked onto the Britain’s Got Talent stage with his guitar and an easy, cheeky smile. The judges liked him straight away.
He told them he is 14 years old and from Milton Keynes, and that his mum, dad, brother and lots of other family and friends had all come to support him.
Bailey is a singer songwriter, and instead of a cover, he chose to sing one of his own songs. He explained that it was about one of his very close friends who turned on him. It was completely unexpected, and it really hurt, but he said the experience made him the person he is today.
Sitting on a stool with his guitar, Bailey began to sing. His voice was soft and full of feeling, and every line seemed to come straight from his heart 💔.
The audience listened in silence, and some people in the crowd were wiping away tears as the song went on.
Amanda Holden told him the words obviously meant so much to him, and that learning such a hard lesson at such a young age will only make him stronger and even more talented. Another judge said songwriters are at their best when they turn something painful into something beautiful.
One judge added that at 14 Bailey already looked like a little star with bundles of potential, and said that if he had a record label, he would sign him.
Then the votes came in, one yes after another. Bailey left the stage with three yeses and a huge smile, proof that his heartbreak had turned into something truly special 🌟.
