Bette Midler has reached the age of 77, and all that time, she has been married to the same man for whom she has sacrificed her career…

Bette Middler is 77 years old now and has spent about half of her life married to Martin Von Haselberg, better known as Harry Kipper. Midler thought Haselberg looked like an adult when she first saw him, and she was immediately drawn to him due of this.

After their first date in 1984, she and Haselberg quickly eloped to Las Vegas, where they were married at the Starlight Chapel, precisely six weeks later. Their romantic relationship began at this point. The event’s officiant was a man who performed an Elvis Presley impression; Bette Midler and Mark Wahlberg were also spotted at the occasion.

After they had just been dating for six weeks, Midler had initiated contact by asking Haselberg out on a date. Haselberg had agreed to Midler’s suggestion. They made the impulsive decision to marry, and a year later they welcomed their lovely daughter into the world.

In the years after the birth of their daughter, Midler and Haselberg made several efforts to conceive other children. They ultimately decided that they should be content with having just one child after she tried everything, including fertility treatment, but she kept losing pregnancies.

Despite their hurried marriage and frenzied courtship, Midler and Haselberg have a sincere bond, and Midler feels that they have been the ones who have kept each other youthful at heart. Haselberg also thinks that she and Midler have been the ones who have kept each other youthful.

It should be no surprise that Midler and her husband think the most crucial element in preserving a happy marriage is prioritizing one’s family over one’s job. According to a quote from Haselberg:

“We deliberately worked to shape our lives into what they are today.”

Although a perfect marriage is unattainable, Midler is glad that she and Haselberg were able to work things out rather than leaving when they initially started experiencing troubles. Additionally, she had to learn how to compromise, which she had not been accustomed to doing before to meeting him. She stated:

“Listening is really difficult. as well as acceptance of it. Making a compromise is the hardest of all.

The intelligent young woman praised Haselberg for all the sacrifices he had made for his family, calling him “the best parent who ever existed.” According to reports, he quit his job as a commodities trader to raise his child and support Midler in her showbiz pursuits.

Since he is a natural speaker of German, Midler has said that Haselberg is the one who taught their daughter how to cook and how to speak the language.

Sophie was able to spend a large portion of her childhood with her father because Midler was always away in other places working on films or other projects.

In order to achieve a good balance between the two parenting philosophies, Midler adopted the persona of the fun parent when she got home from work. She loved every moment of the attention she received from her parents because she was the only child in the family.

The happy wife quickly notes that he has been a fantastic provider for her over their whole marriage. As she and Haselberg have been enjoying the blessings of their marriage for several decades, she now understands that it takes patience to keep a marriage going.

Now an adult, Sophie, their daughter, has also found Harry J. N. Guinness to be “the one.” Their wedding was a low-key event that happened in 2020, right at the peak of the global COVID-19 pandemic.

According to Sophie, they had no intention of getting married in 2020, but because of everything that was going on and the restrictions put in place by COVID-19, the ceremony could only have 11 guests.

The wedding concepts were developed and implemented by Sophie, her spouse, and the rest of their family. It gave the event a unique feel, and Sophie described in an Instagram post she shared after the event how cozy and welcoming the ambiance was.

Today, Bette Midler and her husband live peaceful, happy lives in Millbrook, New York, where they engage in hobbies like tai chi.

Additionally, they donate to the New York Restoration Project, one of their favorite charities, which aims to create open spaces and green spaces in municipalities around the state of New York.

The couple is still happy with their circumstances, despite the fact that things have changed since their daughter Sophie moved out to start her own life. Because she was able to parent her children to a satisfactory degree, Midler is confident that she would be able to fully perform her job as a grandmother. As she put it:

“I swear to be a fantastic grandmother.”

She did not, however, jump into the role at any certain moment. She denied her daughter the opportunity to have a grandchild in 2013 by telling her that she was not ready to be a grandmother.

Midler is happy with the direction her life has taken and is eager to live out the rest of her days with Haselberg, about whom she often boasts. In a previous interview, she called him a “genius” and stated that he had the makings of a great actor but decided to focus on painting and photography instead.
Everyone will be unable to convince Midler that they have a “great” marriage, at least not today. Midler, happy birthday!
