Police dog handler Dave and his German Shepherd Finn came to Britain’s Got Talent with a magic act and a story of real courage. Finn served beside Dave for years, and in 2016 he was badly stabbed while protecting him from an attacker.
On stage, David Walliams secretly wrote down a word and showed it only to Finn. Dave had no way of knowing it, yet the word was revealed: table. Then Simon was invited up, looked into Finn’s eyes and secretly chose a word from a list friends had used to describe the dog. 🎶
Simon read out his word: heroic. Dave asked him to check the tag on Finn’s collar, engraved before the show. It said heroic too. The theater erupted, and the judges and Ant and Dec were moved to tears.
Finn’s bravery also led to Finn’s Law, which gives service animals more protection. On the BGT stage, everyone agreed the word on his collar was the right one. ❤️
