The restaurant owner tried to humiliate the cleaning lady by yelling at her and making her prepare meals for important visitors, but he was unaware of what was going to happen
Few workers ever stayed long at the city center restaurant. Another one would slam the door and go after three or four months. The owner, a haughty and conceited man, felt entitled to treat people like garbage, and everyone knew why.
He could make a waiter, cook, or cleaner seem bad. He considered everyone else to be useless and himself to be a monarch.
A fresh girl had just begun working there. calm, humble, and young. She worked as a dishwasher, hardly spoke to anyone, and simply did her best at her job. Even when someone yelled at her, she would just avert her gaze and continue working without protesting.
However, the owner became irate one day and declared that he didn’t like the way she cleaned the dishes.
He pointed at her angrily and said, “How do you even wash these plates?” Not even a dirty dish can be properly cleaned by you! How good are you? You are pitiful.
With tears in her eyes, the child whispered, “I can do everything.”
— Really? He hissed, “You can do everything?” Let’s see. In an hour, our guests will arrive, and the cook just quit. You’ll be cooking tonight as you’re capable of doing everything. This is your invention, and I will personally present you to them. Watch them chuckle!
I’m not a chef, though, she said.
– Avoid arguing. Follow instructions or risk being fired.
He believed he would make her look bad in front of everyone. that she would go alone if the guests were unhappy with her dish. But everyone was surprised by what transpired next
As she retrieved ingredients from the refrigerator, the girl stood for a considerable amount of time in front of the stove, her hands shaking. Then all of a sudden, something changed within her.
She remembered the movements, the scents, the combinations. As though she were back in her former kitchen, where she had been the head chef before losing her parents, going into depression, and losing her job, she started to move with confidence. She had been banned from restaurants and fired as a result.
The servers brought out the food she had prepared when the visitors arrived. Before a man with silver hair and an expensive suit took the first bite, the room fell silent. He raised his head and inquired:
— Who prepared this?
With a smug smirk, the owner exclaimed, “That girl over there.” My dishwasher. Is it not unbelievable?
He was prepared for jeering and ridicule, but instead the man got up, approached her, took out a business card, and declared: — I operate my own restaurant. A talented cook is what we’re searching for. The position is yours if you agree.
The proprietor became white. He was shocked that he had attempted to make her feel inferior, and that he had ultimately given her the opportunity to start anew.
That following day, the girl resigned. For the first time in a long time, she grinned as she left the restaurant with a cheerful disposition.
Even with the injustice and brutality of others, fate can occasionally lead someone back to their proper path in the most surprising way.
