Carly Rose Sonenclar was 13 and from Westchester, New York, when she auditioned for The X Factor USA in Providence. Her mom is a graphic designer and her dad is a copywriter, but Carly said she wanted to be a superstar.
She sang Nina Simone’s Feeling Good, a song she picked herself. Her voice was rich, mature and full of soul, and the arena cheered louder with every line. 🎶
One judge called her a little diva. Another told her she might be 13 but her soul was old. Simon joked that it was not really her singing and that someone was behind the screen, then said a star had just walked out on stage.
Carly got four yeses and said everything she had done all her life had just paid off. ❤️
