The Judges Asked for an Original Song, and 14-Year-Old Jai Made One Climb on the Desk

Jai Waetford singer

Jai Waetford was only 14 when he auditioned for The X Factor Australia. He started with Different Worlds by Jes Hudak, and his soft, warm voice had the crowd cheering from the first chorus.

One judge was so excited that she asked to hear one of his own songs. Jai sang Don’t Let Me Go, an original he wrote himself, and the audience screamed for him. 🎶

By the end one judge could not sit still and said they had to get up on the desk because it was unbelievable. The whole panel was clearly in awe of his voice and his songwriting. For a boy his age, it was a rare reaction.

Jai went on to finish third in the competition, but this audition was the moment the world first heard him. ❤️
