The Judges Said Their Song Sounded Like a Restaurant Commercial, and Butter and Grit Still Got Four Yeses

Butter and Grit duo

Butter and Grit are a duo living in Nashville, one from Ohio and one from Alabama. They met at a gig two years ago, became fast friends, and decided to form a duo a year later over lunch at a Chinese buffet.

On America’s Got Talent they played their original song Sweet South, full of southern stories, soul and a little hip hop. The crowd cheered as they sang about backyard barbecue, bacon, eggs, butter and grits. 🎶

One judge said she wanted to be their friend. Another said there is a real audience for this kind of Americana. Then the panel joked that it sounded like a Cracker Barrel commercial, and one judge admitted it would make him want to go to the restaurant. Sofia called them super likable.

As one judge put it, there is nothing wrong with being commercial, and the duo walked away with four yeses. ❤️
