The doctor abruptly emerged, walked up to me, and whispered, “Call the police immediately,” as I was taking my wife to the hospital for some tests.
The hospital was busy than normal that morning. People were hurrying, holding documents in their hands as they moved about.
As usual, I was with my wife when she was scheduled to do some tests.
I remained outside as she entered the doctor’s office. My heart began to race while I was waiting for no obvious cause; it was an odd sensation that I was unable to describe.
A doctor emerged from the examination room ten minutes later. His worried, almost unsettled appearance instantly unnerved me.
After giving me a long look, he came up to me and said, “Call the police immediately,” in a voice that was so low that no one else could hear.
Unable to react, I froze. My hands began to shake. I questioned him about it.
He gave me a look before continuing to talk in a very low voice. His remarks left me speechless, and I found it difficult to comprehend what he had just stated. As like the earth had vanished beneath my feet, I stood there stunned and my heart pounding.
According to the doctor, the test findings and several clinical indicators pointed to increasing poisoning.
He said that she had been abused for a long time before requesting that the police step in and allowing her to go.
Shuddering, I went outside and dialed 911.
I was informed by the operator that a patrol would arrive shortly.
Two policemen showed up ten minutes later.
They instructed me to wait in the corridor after questioning the doctor.
My wife was there, crying and pallid, avoiding my eyes when I was finally let in.
According to the doctor, the poisoning was brought on by a poison that was probably in the water she had been drinking at home.
She believed that her symptoms were just the result of being tired, but the situation was far more serious than that.
Several times she had been poisoned.
My wife clarified that she didn’t want to concern me, but she would become sick every time she drank the water that was left on the kitchen counter.
An investigation was started by the police.
The truth was found before it was too late because of the doctor’s diligence.
