Denise Weeks is 41 and sings on the R train in New York City for tips. She told The X Factor that some passengers do not want to hear her, but she put her pride aside because she needed to provide for her children after losing their father when they were very young.
Now her two kids are in college, and Denise decided it was time to live out her own dream. Winning, she said, would mean never having to sing in the subway again.
She started “Greatest Love of All” 🎶, but Simon stopped her. He said she was rushing and the emotion was not coming through. Then he asked her to sing the song again without a track and let it breathe. Singing a cappella, Denise finally let her voice fly.
The judges could not believe she sings on the subway. One told her that someday she will be singing in front of lots and lots of people, and another said they had been waiting for her. Demi, Paulina and the rest of the panel said yes, and Denise left with four big yeses ❤️.
