Branden James, a 34-year-old tenor from Chicago, came to America’s Got Talent with a dream he had carried his whole life. He grew up in a very conservative family, and when he came out as gay, his parents made it clear they did not approve. Still, his mother was in the audience to support him.

When Branden said he was an opera singer, Mel B admitted she expected the worst. Then he started to sing, and his powerful tenor voice filled the theater with passion. 🎶

Heidi Klum said she had goose pimples all over her body, and Mel B called it incredible. Howard Stern turned to Branden’s mother and told her she should be very proud, because her son would inspire people far beyond the show.

With four yeses, Branden moved on to the next round. It was a huge moment for a singer who fought so hard to be himself, and his mom was there to see it. ❤️
