Simon Stopped Him Because He Hated the Song, So Dean Wilson Sang It Again

Dean John Wilson in a gold jacket

Dean Wilson came to Britain’s Got Talent as a singer and dancer, convinced he had what it takes to win. He chose “Why God Why?” from the musical Miss Saigon, a dramatic scene he planned to act out on stage.

He had only sung a few lines when Simon Cowell stopped him and said he hated the song. Simon asked for something more popular, but Dean had not brought another track. So he started again, and this time he gave the scene everything he had. 🎶

When he finished, Piers Morgan called it an absolute tour de force. Amanda Holden praised the passion and hunger she saw in him, and even Simon admitted he had never seen such conviction and commitment in an audition.

Dean did not swap his song to please the judges. He believed in it, sang it again, and turned a rough start into a string of yeses. ❤️
